Suomu - Kemijärvi
Kemijärvi, the northernmost town of Finland, is a town nestled between the ski resorts of Suomu, Pyhä-Luosto, Salla and Ruka. This fortunate location allows you to make use of the services of an entire small town, whilst having access to all the activities a ski resort has to offer.
Kemijärvi, where ski trails and snowmobile safaris start right in the centre of the town, is proud to host a number of events throughout the winter. The Giant Snowmobile Enduro Race in March provides challenges for snowmobile enthusiasts, whilst a friendly snowball fight in April, the International Yukigassen Snowball Fighting Competition, attracts snowballers from all over the world. The permanent wood sculpture exhibition at the Puustelli Art Centre and Kemijärvi Snowmobile Museum are the only attractions of their kind in Europe.
The Suomu fell has a unique geographical position on the Arctic Circle, just half an hour's drive from Kemijärvi. The fell's long, steadily declining slopes rank among the best in Finnish Lapland.
Spend a romantic evening in front of an open fire at the Kota restaurant after a day of cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, ice-fishing, snowmobiling or other activities. At Suomu you can relax with the whole family in peace and quiet.
